VietFish 2022 opens up a new perspective on Vietnamese seafood

VietFish International Seafood Expo 2022 - a quality connection event, was recently opened on the morning of August 24 by the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) at the Sai Gon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC), 799 Nguyen Van Linh, District 7, Ho Chi Minh city.

According to VASEP, the rapid recovery of import markets after the Covid-19 pandemic in parallel with fluctuations in the supply of white fish from Russia has been creating new opportunities for Vietnam's seafood industry to accelerate its recovery as well as seize many advantages in the first two quarters of 2022.

In order to increase the competitive advantage and capitalize on the existing advantages gained in the past, Vietnam's seafood industry have to solve the most important challenge, that is to establish a new balance system.

Namely, that is the balance between supply capacity and consumption demand in key markets; balance between output and quality according to increasingly stringent world standards; balance between actual production cost and profit to ensure minimum profit margin for the value chain; balance productivity, efficiency and ecosystem limits to ensure industry-wide sustainability, especially when climate change and environmental issues are posing major challenges to Vietnam's seafood industry.

To realize the aforementioned goals, cooperation across the seafood industry and the entire value chain is necessary for Vietnam to be ranked among the top 3 countries supplying seafood to the world market. This is also the main goal of VietFish 2022.

Mr. Truong Dinh Hoe, General Secretary of VASEP, said that after a two-year hiatus period due to the Covid-19 pandemic, VietFish 2022 has returned with a more mature and modern look, which is expected to help visitors gain new perspectives on Vietnamese seafood.

Seafood is a modern industry that is working towards sustainable, responsible development; with the goal to export 10 billion USD in 2022, and 12 to 15 billion USD in 2025.
